Livelihood Skills

In this globalized world, one of the most useful livelihood skills is the ability to speak English.

While most Asians learn English in school, most are unable to speak even the simplest English. This is due to the way that English is taught. Firstly, most Asian countries do not have English teachers that are able to speak English. Secondly, English is taught in most schools as an examination subject – and most examinations are written, not spoken. Thirdly, even keen English students do not have the opportunity to practise speaking English.

Teaching English, especially spoken English, is one of the main pillars of Goducate’s educational programs in almost all the countries that we serve in.

The other important livelihood skill in this “knowledge age” is the ability to use computers. Most poor Asians have little or no access to computers and computer training. Goducate operates many computer centers to teach children and working adults.

Other livelihood skills are taught by Goducate to suit local demand (eg. hair-dressing, tailoring).
