Feeding Kids, Nurturing Communities for a Transformed Tomorrow

A recent UNICEF report shows that 65% of the 181 million children facing food poverty live in just 20 countries, including the Philippines. In the Philippines, 18%—or 2 million—children are classified as severely food poor.

Highlighting that countless children in this country lack the basic opportunities to grow, develop, and learn, putting them at risk of a continuous cycle of malnutrition and poverty that can impact them and future generations.

GoFeed, established on February 27, 2023, provides nutritious meals to underserved communities as an initial step to combat child malnutrition and engage families to be more involved in conversations and actions around child poverty, for sustainable change. To date, GoFeed has reached 16 out of 82 provinces, aiding 2,028 children in 54 barangays, with 7 new centers set to open in November. The organization is committed to expanding and appreciates its partners' support for advancing its mission.

WHAT DOES GOFEED DO IN THE COMMUNITY?

(I) Our Impact (to date)

Serving More Than Meals

GoFeed provides three meals per week, totaling over 272,000 meals across the Philippines since its start.

Their menu, featuring nutritious dishes like Pechay with Corned Beef and Veggie Miswa with Sardines, shows healthy eating can be affordable.

Impact in Northern Samar

Operating in six centers in this province, GoFeed reaches 174 children, with 83% achieving notable weight gain within six months. This success stems from consistent nourishment and family engagement, renewing hope. Notably, Northern Samar ranks among the poorest provinces in the Philippines.

(II) Educate: Connecting Nutrition and Learning

Food and educational poverty are closely linked, trapping many Filipino children. Studies show the Philippines lags n reading, math, and science, as hunger and malnutrition hinder cognitive development. Partnering with APIIS-Goducate Academy, GoFeed provides digital learning resources to support children’s education alongside nutrition.

(III) Empower: Building Community Resilience

GoFeed fosters local leadership and sustainable community-driven change through engagement and empowerment. This approach not only strengthens community bonds but also establishes a foundation for lasting

impact that resonates across generations. An example is Brgy. Alaska, La Union, where residents, inspired by GoFeed’s sessions, initiated a playground project to boost child development.

(IV) Develop Strong Communities

GoFeed is dedicated to building a supportive environment for children, nourishing their bodies, minds, and spirits to help them reach their full potential. By fostering a network of care, we aim to benefit future generations. Our commitment today sets the stage for a brighter future, ensuring children grow up in environments that support their well-being and growth.

Real Solutions Through Faith

At GoFeed, we believe transformation starts with a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our program not only addresses physical hunger but opens opportunities for spiritual growth, fulfilling the Great Commission.

Like the early church in Acts 2:42-47, GoFeed fosters community through meals, shared teachings, and prayer, building networks of care and spiritual nourishment.

My Journey with GoFeed in Baclao

“Before joining GoFeed, our ministry here in Baclao, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, was going through a difficult season. We were short on leaders and volunteers, and it seemed like even the kids weren’t sure if they wanted to join us. The local priest had also discouraged the kids from attending our Bible studies, which made it harder for us to reach out. Then, during my Master of Ministry (MMin) graduation, I learned about GoFeed. It felt like the answer we needed, so I prayed and applied. I was grateful when the application was approved.

We’re now 7 months into the GoFeed program, and while the ministry has its usual challenges, I can genuinely say we’re seeing God at work here. Today, we have three committed leaders guiding the weekly lessons for our kids.

One of them is a single mom who faced church discipline in the past due to a difficult situation. She joined GoFeed seeking a fresh start, and it’s been amazing to watch her rediscover her faith and purpose. Now, she serves with a joyful heart, and her journey inspires us all. Our leaders are also growing in their own faith. They’ve learned how to connect with the kids meaningfully, and they’re confident to keep things running smoothly. GoFeed has also opened doors for us to share the Gospel with both parents and volunteers.

Through GoFeed, we’re witnessing a real transformation here in Baclao. Families are welcoming us into their homes, more people are tuning in to our radio broadcasts, and some of our volunteers have come to faith. I am grateful for this partnership and for all it’s doing to bring hope and share the Gospel of Christ with our community.”
